Look who was spotted at the Shelby BB yesterday!
Unfortunately, The Brown Bear will be closed tonight due to possible unsafe drinking water and a boil water advisory. This affects our fountain soda, ice, drinking water, and the ability to wash dishes safely. Please accept our apology for this short notice (as we just found out ourselves). We take the safety of our Crew and customers very seriously and will reopen as soon as it's possible for us to do so.

The Brown Bear is NOW INTERVIEWING! Immediate seasonal openings for servers & cooks. Half-time and full-time through Labor Day. Weekend only hours are available for September and October, which is perfect for students. Our restaurants are a fast paced, high energy, fun and family-friendly dining environment for everyone to enjoy. We have locations in Shelby and Pentwater, MI. There are probably 100 {or more} neighborhood bars that not only deserve a nomination, but deserve a win. How could you pick a best? The one that you frequent, that makes you feel at home, that cares more about getting you taken care of than physical appearances....We look at our locals/regulars (who take care of us all year long so we can take care of them) and we know that they have chosen US. We do not take that for granted and we appreciate each one. We have a long, amazing --and interesting-- history, and if you want to know about it, all you need to do is come in and ask. There will likely be someone who knows a lot about it! The stories are endless! Thank you for lots and lots and lots of years of support!

Today is The March of Dimes, March for Babies walk in Muskegon and The Brown Bear staff will be supporting our little friend, Evan Weesies, by wearing his team shirt and promoting awareness to this awesome cause and sweet kids, like Evan. Evan was born on Christmas Day in 2009, 17 weeks early, and weighing only 1 pound 5 ounces. His parents, Ryan and Lindsey Weesies, have been advocates of The March of Dimes since his birth, raising thousands of dollars each year for research, education and programs, to help babies who are born too early and to promote healthy full-term pregnancies. (And more!) If you have been called out in the COLD WATER CHALLENGE, this is a perfect opportunity to do good, feel good (& stay WARM!). It doesn't need to be $100, any amount is great! If you keep up with the news, at least a little, there is probably just a slim chance that you haven't heard about Gavin Sima. Gavin and his family have been a huge inspiration to hundreds, probably thousands, of people. The Sima Family has selflessly opened up their private life, to help us all be more aware of childhood cancer. So many have been impacted positively (even though we all are heartbroken) and have learned lifelong lessons about family, love, grief, giving, receiving, fear, parenthood, sacrifice, regret (or lack of it), and "holding your loved ones tighter". Our family has never experienced the ups and downs of childhood cancer, but by following Gavin's journey for the past 2 years, we have learned so much. Celebrating with clear test results, praying and crying over sickness. Gavin is considered by so many as a superhero--and now as an angel. Not only did this sweet child have to endure so much, but so did his mom and dad, older brother, twin brother, and little sister. Thanks to Bald Man's Bakery. Weesie's Bros. Garden Centers & Landscaping, and donations from all of us, Gavin's family is going to have a garden built in memory of him, right in their own yard. There are a few fun ways that you can be a part of this! You can simply pledge any amount and send in a check towards the garden. Then, tomorrow, there is going to be a cheesecake and BBQ brisket auction. These cheesecakes are indescribable! Surely worth every single little penny and it'll be all rainbow colored for Gavin. I will post links for info and don't be afraid to ask any questions! We are proud to have been a part of this journey, this is a wonderful family, and you all are the best customers and fans out there!
